West Alabama Works teamed up with Shelton State Community College yesterday to kick off their annual Worlds of Work event.

This spring the event is called WOW 2.0 and is a two-day event offering high school and post-secondary students the opportunity to look at the kinds of jobs available to them.

According to Victoria Cotton, a senior at Green County High School, said the Worlds of Work event gets them ready for the real world once they graduate high school.

At Shelton State, colleges and businesses set up tables for students to learn more about different schools and jobs that may be offered to them after high school. Employers had also set up mock interviews for students to experience what a real job interview is like.

“It just prepares us better for the future and any job career that we want to pursue,” Candace Mims, a freshman at Shelton State Community College, said.

Today, around 3,000 high school juniors are expected to attend the event.
