West AlabamaWorks is helping students find jobs

Tuscaloosa County leaders have come up with a clever way to help students get connected with jobs.

Starting soon students in all six of the Tuscaloosa County high schools will be able to search for a job at school.

Thanks to a partnership between West AlabamaWorks and the Tuscaloosa County Commission.

There will be kiosks available to allow students to apply for jobs and apprenticeships.

The goal behind the project is to bring jobs to the students while also helping solve the workforce crisis.

“Instead of asking people to come to a certain place. We are trying to go out in those communities and where they live and where better to be in the face of students than in their schools,” said Donny Jones who is the Executive Director of West Alabama Works. “The earlier you get a path and a plan the better off our young people will be and I believe that is best for the outcome long term of Tuscaloosa County,” said Tuscaloosa County Probate Judge Rob Robertson.

This service is not just for students. It’s also free to the public. There is a job kiosk inside the Tuscaloosa County Courthouse.
