A Request for Proposals (RFP) was released on February 1, 2018 for the solicitation of an organization to be the operator for the One Stop Career Center system and/or deliver WIOA career services to Adults, Dislocated Workers, and Youth in the West AlabamaWorks! Local Workforce Development Area. Proposals must be turned in by 4:30pm on March 5, 2018. The chief role of the One-Stop Operator is to coordinate the service delivery of required one-stop partners and service providers. The Alabama Career Center System is required to have a Center Operator. As part of this role, the operator coordinates the assignment of partner Agency staff to the Center’s resource room and directing customers to co-located service providers. Career Services may be provided by the same entity as is providing the One-Stop Operator function. The proposal must address the services to be delivered under the program. Career services are described in Section 134(c)(2) of WIOA.

A Request for Proposals (RFP) was released for occupational youth services programs to serve out-of-school youth ages 16 – 24 (with barriers to employment as identified by WIOA) and in-school youth ages 16 – 21 in USDOL or West Alabama Works recognized Pre-Apprentice or Registered Apprenticeship programs. West AlabamaWorks! Local Workforce Development Area (WAW) youth programs will focus on providing academic and occupational skills training to out-of-school youth who have limited skills, little or no work experience and other barriers to economic success. The goal for programs under this RFP is to help youth in the WAW Local Area attain the education and employability skills that are necessary to get a job, keep their job and advance in their chosen career pathway. WAW youth programs will focus on educational attainment, work-based training opportunities and training linked to careers aligned with the skills needs of industries in their area. Proposals must include the Ready to Work (RTW) training curriculum and should also connect academic and occupational skills training for the following in-demand industry sectors: healthcare, manufacturing, distribution, automotive and information technology that lead to industry recognized credentials.
