Today’s challenging economy means young people need to make the best career choice possible. However, many students still do not know of the career opportunities and paths that are available to them.

West AlabamaWorks! showcased careers and career paths in exciting, stable, well-paying fields at the “Worlds of Work” 2.0 .This event was focused exclusively to juniors, seniors and post-secondary students from 9 counties on Wednesday and Thursday, February 7th and 8th at Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

The WOW 2.0 pilot launch gave over 2,500 juniors and seniors a look at exciting, high-paying careers available right here, right now, in West Alabama. For seniors, Wednesday was not just a day to explore career opportunities, but with the help of academic advisors and West AlabamaWorks, they were able to interact with employers¬†and participate in on-site job interviews with over 20 businesses. Seniors were able to explore Shelton State’s gymnasium (Zone 1) where more than 24 industry booths set up with representatives ready to talk.

February 8th was Junior Day and was set up so that juniors could explore 4 zones. Juniors were able to discover and interact with 30 two and four-year colleges and universities; 58 business industries, and many educational programs.
