Filing for unemployment during COVID-19
March 19, 2020
The Alabama Department of Labor has updated their rules regarding unemployment filing during the COVID-19 outbreak. If you are a displaced worker due to the virus — meaning your business cannot afford to pay you during this time — you can apply for unemployment benefits. You do not have to be fired or laid off to qualify.
Listen to our conversation with Department of Labor Secretary Fitzgerald Washington (above) for more information.
