Worlds of Work relaunches for virtual fall semester event
October 25, 2021
West AlabamaWorks! announces the relaunch of the virtual Worlds of Work platform that will provide much needed career exploration and education options to students in West Alabama.
The West AlabamaWorks team decided to go virtual again for this Fall event after the WOW in person event originally scheduled for Oct. 7th & 8th 2021 was postponed until the Spring, February 24th & 25th 2022.
The virtual platform will relaunch Monday, October 25th with schools in the 9-county region scheduled to participate. The immersive game-like experience will feature different “worlds” that highlight the major industry sectors in West Alabama: agriculture, construction, education, energy/utilities, engineering/environment, healthcare, hospitality/tourism, manufacturing/logistics, public safety, and transportation.
A new feature this year with WOW is the addition of TransfrVR, learning in 3D or Augmented Reality. Augmented Reality (AR) is a digitally enhanced version of reality where users can interact with computer interfaces similar to a smartphone or an app. It combines both the real and virtual components to give a real-time interactive experience between both worlds. Imagine a computer UI screen appearing in front of your eyes, acting the same way as your smartphone.
Students, parents/guardians, and educators are encouraged to travel through the virtual Worlds of Work platform via www.worldsofwork.com during the launch week. For additional questions, please contact West AlabamaWorks! Project Manager Brittani Colburn via brittani@westalabamachamber.com.
