UCPWA's Inaugural DisABILITY Hiring Expo

West AlabamaWorks! has partnered with United Cerebral Palsy of West Alabama, United Ability, and Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services (ADRS) to host a hiring event Tuesday, July 19th in Tuscaloosa.

UCP and ARDS aims to bring about; a nation that promotes diversity and inclusion where each workplace has an equal ratio of individuals from different backgrounds. To extend their efforts West AlabamaWorks! is partnering with them to bring job opportunities for persons with disabilities.

“We do not just serve children and adults with cerebral palsy; we serve adults with all types of abilities. I like to focus on the word abilities because so many of the children and adults we serve have unique abilities, and we must focus on those abilities.” said United Cerebral Palsy of West Alabama COO, Cody Ingram. “What we focus on at UCP is customized employment with our employment program. We focus on customizing jobs to fit the needs of the students or the individuals that we serve, said Ingram.”

This event is designed to assist those with some form of disability with the opportunity to gain employment, however it is also open to anyone looking for work.

“At UCP, the concept of diversity and inclusion is nothing new. They value ALL abilities in ALL aspects of life including employment. Here at West AlabamaWorks! we offer opportunities for all, so partnering with UCP to host this event sends a clear message: inclusion means inclusion for all, and it begins with the employer,” said Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama COO and West AlabamaWorks!
