Black Belt Hiring Event continues in Pickens County

West AlabamaWorks! has partnered with the City of Aliceville to host a hiring event Wednesday, July 27th in Pickens County

The Regional Black Belt Hiring Tour continues in Pickens County next week. In an earlier release the hiring event was shown as July 26th in error. The event will take place Wednesday July 27thfrom 10am-3pm at Aliceville City Hall located at 419 Memorial Parkway in Aliceville, Alabama 35442.

212 individuals have been connected to open positions through career connect from recent hiring events in Greene, Hale, Marengo, and Sumter counties over the past two months. These targeted hiring events offer job seekers the opportunity to find out more about local and regional companies while making personal connections with prospective employers.

“By continuing to host these hiring events in each of our Black Belt Counties, especially in a central location such as a City Hall, we hope it continues to draw crowds of people looking for roles in all kinds of fields including government,” said Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama COO and West AlabamaWorks! Executive Director, Donny Jones.

The event will feature some of the region’s largest employers. Participating companies are hiring for positions ranging from seasonal workers, to forklift operators, warehouse workers, administrative assistants, welders, production workers, and route drivers. Temporary and permanent jobs are available along with additional employers on westalabamajobs.com.

“This hiring event, will further expand opportunities for those looking for career growth opportunities,” said Mayor of Aliceville, Terrence Windham. “I need a job, that’s a phrase I receive from non-residents and residents of Aliceville frequently, typically I refer them to the Alabama Department of Labor who come out to help with resume building or encourage them to check our website (City of Aliceville) for job openings. However, I am thankful for West AlabamaWorks! And the many partners for taking the time out to come into OUR city to provide this workforce assistance to us,” said Windham.

The hiring event is a partnership between West AlabamaWorks!, The Department of Veteran Affairs, the Alabama Career Center, The City of Aliceville, and Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services.

All applicants should be prepared to interview at the job fairs and are encouraged to bring a resume and dress appropriately.
