Teachers and students are not the only ones gearing up for the start of a new school year. Lear Corporation, an automotive supplier for Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, will host a hiring event called “Back to School, Back to Work” to help parents and working age adults begin or continue a career in the automotive industry.
Last month, Lear opened its doors to a new facility located in McCalla and West AlabamaWorks! through our career connect system, which makes the application process for a company effortless, connected 50 individuals to positions at Lear during that event. Due to the success of July’s hiring event, this month’s hiring event will take place August 24th from 3 pm to 7 pm at the Holiday Inn Express off exit 1 in McCalla. Lear will continue to fill positions for Seat Assemblers, Material Handlers, and Maintenance Technicians. Salaries range between $17/hr. to $27/hr. for the different positions.
“Lear Corporation is looking for enthusiastic team members to join our team at our new plant in McCalla, AL. We offer a self-directed work culture, an engaging environment and exciting career advancement opportunities in the auto industry, so jump aboard and Drive Your Career with Lear,” said Stacey Miller, HR Director for Lear Tuscaloosa Campus.
The event aims to connect those looking for jobs with positions in the automotive industry; no automotive experience is required to attend or apply to jobs, and interviews will be conducted on site.
Lear representatives will also be available to answer questions regarding their benefits that include medical/dental/vision/life insurance which begins the 1st day of the month following 60 days of employment. Lear also offers tuition assistance, 401K, monthly attendance bonus, and quarterly performance bonuses.
“We are working with a lot of industry partners that need people coming into the workforce, and we are excited to partner with Lear once again to help fill positions for their new facility in McCalla,” said Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama COO and West AlabamaWorks! Executive Director Donny Jones. “Working at Lear is a great opportunity for someone to increase their skill-set by learning and growing in the world of automotives,” said Jones.
