Central Elementary Hosts Literacy Parent Night
October 18, 2022
Earlier this month, Central Elementary School held its Fall Literacy Parent Night, which was an evening filled with reading resources, educational interactive games, reading strategies and free children's books for students. The event began with the welcome from CES Principal, Dr. Jerry Collins, followed by an introduction of the mentees of the CES "From Boys 2 Men" mentoring group piloted by Dr. Collins.
Mrs. Cynthia Huff, the Assistant Principal introduced the male mentees to the guests and Ms. McCaskill (4th Grade teacher) introduced the LADIES mentor group. Mrs. Huff provided the guests with an agenda and explained the different sessions that were being offered.
Students and parents were able to visit all sessions before the event ended and were very thankful for being able to enjoy and interact with teachers and other guests.
Refreshments to-go included hotdogs, chips, and water sponsored by one of the school’s community partners, St. Paul Baptist Church. Central Elementary is partnered with CB&S Bank, Northport Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc., and Stillman College.
