January 5, 2023
West Alabama Works will host the fourth-annual Talent Conference Wednesday, January 18th at 7:30 a.m. at Shelton State Community College, (D room) with keynote speaker, Dr. Melissa Furman, MS, DBA.
Furman is the owner, speaker, consultant of Career Potential, LLC. Attendees will learn how to manage and lead multigenerational organizations. “This is the first time in American history, there are five generations present in the workforce and most organizations are serving customers from six generations,” said Career Potential Owner, Dr. Melissa Furman. “As a result, leaders are faced with challenges due to differing mindsets, work styles, and communication styles,” said Furman.
“The beginning of the year is the perfect time to have this topic heard by employers and leaders in the community, said Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama Chief Operating Officer and West Alabama Works Executive Director Donny Jones. “Leaders can face a variety of challenges when developing and retaining a multi-generational team. When leaders lack an understanding of each generation’s needs and wants, it affects their ability to effectively communicate and impedes strong working relationships within their team,” said Jones.
This is the ideal event for managers, supervisors, workforce development leaders, and human resource professionals who need tips on retaining their workforce. This fun, engaging session will provide knowledge, skills, and strategies to recruit, retain, and serve customers and employees across multiple generations,
Registration is $40 to attend, tickets can be purchased here.
