The automotive industry has played a large part in the economic development and growth of West Alabama. Lear Corporation, an automotive supplier for Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, is actively hiring and training at their Vance facility for full-time positions and now offering part-time shifts.

“Now that Lear has opened the door to offering part-time shifts at their company, it will give them the necessary manpower to continue to operate at a high level,” said Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama COO and West AlabamaWorks! Executive Director Donny Jones.

The hiring and outreach event will take place Thursday, March 23rd  from 1pm to 6pm on the campus of Stillman College located in the Hay Center, with on-site interviews. Lear is looking to fill full-time positions for Material Handlers in addition to filling both full-time and now part-time shifts for Production Operators. Wages start at $18/hour for production operators for both full and part-time positions with part-time shifts available on Fridays & Sundays only. As well as full-time positions available for material handlers at $18.25/hour.

Lear representatives will be available and on campus to answer questions regarding their benefits that include medical/dental/vision/life insurance which begins the 1st day of the month following 60 days of employment.  Lear also offers tuition assistance, 401K, monthly attendance bonus, and quarterly performance bonuses.

“We would love for you to join our team for we are looking to have what we call a Self – Directed work model to which team members have a say, the ability to suggest improvements, and be employed at a place where they are valued as an employee,” said Stacey Miller, HR Director for Lear Tuscaloosa Campus.

Interested candidates are encouraged to dress business casual, “Dress for the job you want”. The event aims to connect those looking for jobs with positions in the automotive industry; no automotive experience is required to attend or apply to jobs, and interviews will be conducted on site.

Anyone attending the hiring event on March 23rd is encouraged to complete their profile in our Career Connect system. Although pre-registration is not required, job seekers planning to attend the event can reduce their time in line by pre-registering at westalabamajobs.com/LEAR
