Over 300+ students signed up to attend WOW 2.0 next week

Designed for high school seniors, WOW 2.0 allows young adults to engage with employers and colleges, and interview on-site for part-time and full-time jobs.

West AlabamaWorks! will host WOW 2.0, April 12, 2023, from 9am-1:30pm on the campus of Shelton State Community College. WOW 2.0 is an event targeting high school seniors in the West Alabama Region. Seniors from Bibb, Greene, Hale, Lamar, and Sumter County Schools, and Tuscaloosa City and County Schools will be able to speak with post-secondary schools, as well as meet with industry-professionals in a job fair setting. This event will allow connections between industry and job seekers to be made, with the goal of filling high growth, high demand jobs available in West Alabama.

There are 30 companies, businesses and industries who have committed to participate to not only showcase their company to students, but also to hire for entry-level positions. Companies will conduct on-site interviews and provide students with contingent job offers (contingent upon additional interviews, background checks, drug testing, and hiring process) during the event. The opportunities include full-time and part-time jobs, as well as internships and apprenticeship opportunities.

WOW 2.0 continues a student's future, whether they choose college or career after graduation.

“WOW 2.0 is an event like none other,” said Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama Executive Vice President and Chief Workforce Officer and West AlabamaWorks! Executive Director Donny Jones. “We bring the ‘best of the best’ companies altogether in one location so high schools seniors who may not know what their next steps will be after graduation will have opportunities to gain as many contingent job offers as possible, so they too can be excited about their future path,” said Jones.

This is an excellent opportunity for high school seniors who plan to enter the workforce full-time following graduation, work part-time while attending college, or enroll in an apprenticeship program with a West Alabama company.
